All-Ivy Men's Lacrosse (2008)
Created: 5/7/2008 5:02:10 PM

It was a historic season for the Brown men's lacrosse team, as the Bears won 10 of their last 11 games en route to sharing their first Ivy title since 1995. That was also the year that Brown attackman David Evans earned Ivy League Player of the Year honors. But a Bear has not won the League's highest individual honor since ... until now, as junior goalie Jordan Burke becomes the ninth Brown lacrosse player to take home the award.

Burke, the Division I leader in save percentage (.674), helped anchor a stingy Brown defense that allowed a League-best 41 goals in Ivy play. The unanimous first team All-Ivy selection, who becomes the second consecutive goalkeeper to win Player of the Year, led all Ivy goalies in goals against average (6.43) while helping to lead the Bears to the program's highest win total since 1994.

Burke is joined on the first team by teammates Thomas Muldoon and Reed Deluca. Muldoon paced the Brown attack with 37 points on the year. His team-high 30 goals were good enough to finish second in the League, while Deluca helped anchor the fourth best scoring defense in the nation — a defense that held opponents to a mere 95 goals.

Co-champion Cornell, who won at least a share of its sixth straight Ivy League title, led all schools with four first-teamers. Sophomore attack Ryan Hurley was voted a unanimous selection after leading the League with 44 goals and 57 points. His 3.14 goals per game rank third in the nation.

The Big Red midfield tandem of senior John Glynn and junior Max Seibald are the only players to return to the first team from a season ago. The two unanimous picks who helped lead Cornell to the National Semifinals last year, controlled the Big Red midfield all season as Glynn finished second in the League with 23 assists, while Seibald poured in 25 goals. Defenseman Matt Moyer, a second team All-Ivy performer a year ago, also garnered first team honors for Cornell.

Princeton defenseman Dan Cocoziello, a second team selection last year, helped the Tigers to a third place finish while earning unanimous first team honors. Joining him as a unanimous first-teamer is Harvard sophomore midfielder Jason Duboe, who lead the Crimson with 26 goals.

Attackman Ari Sussman of Dartmouth and Craig Andrzejewski of Penn round out the first team attack. Last year's Rookie of the Year, Sussman led the Big Green with 25 goals and 16 assists. Andrzejewski, a second-teamer a year ago, led the Quakers with 23 goals and 17 assists.

Princeton freshman attack Jack McBride was voted 2008 Ivy League Rookie of the Year. McBride finished sixth all-time on the Tiger freshman scoring charts with 19 goals and broke the single-game freshman record with six goals against Penn.

Brown and Princeon led the second team with three selections each, while Harvard added two.
