Brown, Princeton Capture Ivy Men's Rowing Titles

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Brown men's heavyweights made it two straight while Princeton stopped Cornell’s recent Ivy reign in the lightweights, earning the 2009 Ivy Championships at the Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.

Brown won the EARC and Ivy League titles by taking the grand final in 5:41.363, more than one second faster than Harvard. Brown came into the Eastern Sprints with a 4-1 dual record fresh off an impressive nine-second win over Princeton in the Content Cup.

In the Lightweights, Princeton’s first varsity continued its perfect 2009 season with winning its first EARC and 11th Ivy League championship. After finishing the regular season with a 7-0 record and the national top ranking, the Tigers won in a time of 5:41.43 in front of Harvard.
