Princeton Ranked Third in the First Division I Directors' Cup Standings for the 2010-11 Season

CLEVELAND -- Princeton ranked third among 52 Division I institions in the first fall Division I Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings.
The Tigers are in the third-place spot after finishing fifth in women’s field hockey, 12th in men’s cross country and 15th in women’s cross country for a total of 159 points.
Florida State is the leader over Syracuse by 12 points, 180-168.
The Seminoles accumulated their 180 points by having both their
men’s and women’s cross country teams finish second at
the Division I national championships. Syracuse finished fifth in
women’s field hockey, 10th in women’s cross country and
14th in men’s cross country.
Stanford is currently in fourth place with 156 points after
placing fourth in men’s cross
country, ninth in women’s field hockey and 13th in
women’s cross country. Rounding out the top-five is Virginia.
The Cavaliers finished third in women’s field hockey, 17th in
men’s cross country and 21st in women’s cross country,
bringing their point total to 155.
Three of the eight fall NCAA championships have been completed
with the following institutions capturing titles: men’s cross
country - Oklahoma State; women’s cross country - Villanova;
women’s field hockey - Maryland.
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint
effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of
Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each
institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women’s and 10
men’s.
The next Division I standings will be released Thursday, December
16.
