NEW YORK -- Princeton baseball and basketball alum Chris Young and the Kansas City Royals are World Series Champions.

The Royals defeated the Mets in five games, winning game five in New York on Sunday night, 7-2 in 12 innings.

The former Tiger Young pitched in two games in the World Series, coming on in relief to get the win in game 1 and getting the start and a no decision in game 4. In the playoffs, Young appeared in four games, with two starts, pitching 15.2 innings and posting an ERA of 2.87. He gave up eight hits and struck out 18.
