EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants and former Brown linebacker Zak DeOssie will be making his second trip to the Pro Bowl in three years after Atlanta head coach Mike Smith on Thursday named him to the NFC squad for the Jan. 30 game in Hawaii. DeOssie was also named to the Pro Bowl squad in 2008.
DeOssie will handle the long snaping duties for the NFC squad and will work with Dallas punter Mat McBriar and Philadelphia kicker David Akers in Hawaii a week from Sunday.
"I think I had my best year snapping," DeOssie told Big Blue Review. "It all comes down to consistency, and again having Sage (Rosenfels) and Lawrence (Tynes) there helping me. Matt and I will keep working. I felt more confident this year than I have in the past."
It also marks the second time in three years the Ivy League has been represented in the Pro Bowl as another former Bear star, Sean Morey, was also named to the Pro Bowl in 2008.
