Ice Hockey Features...
Sibling(s) Rivalry
The 186th meeting between Harvard and Dartmouth kicked off each school's 2009-10 season in Hanover, N.H. Since that century-old rivalry began and the formal beginning of Division I play in 1948, there have been thousands of hockey games. Not one, however, can match the unofficial records established in Dartmouth's Thompson Arena on that particular Friday night.

Protection Project
Hall-of-Famer Mark Messier spoke to Harvard Men's ice hockey team members about a collaboration aimed at addressing concussions. The campaign is an all-encompassing grassroots and educational initiative which aims to change priorities in the sport by encouraging athletes to play smart and choose the best protective equipment.

All in the Family
The Dartmouth men's hockey team probably has more of a family feel than you may expect, with head coach Bob Gaudet '81 coaching his two sons, Joey '10 and Jimmy '12. Click inside for Bruce Wood's piece on Hanover's hockey family.

Supporting in Pink
Yale junior forward Mandi Schwartz may not be on the ice with her women's hockey teammates this weekend but her presence will not be missed...in a sea of pink.

The Golden Rule
The 1961 Freedom Riders — an oft-overlooked expedition — ushered in a new era of the Civil Rights Movement and one of its original participants once toted a hockey stick for the Harvard Crimson.

A Period of Growth
Harvard coach Ted Donato ('91), played for both the New York Islanders and New York Rangers during his 13-year National Hockey League playing career and was the recent subject of a NY Daily News story.
