PRINCETON, N.J. -- Seven of the eight Ivy League cross country teams are in action this weekend, highlighed by Princeton's women testing themselves against some of the top ranked teams in the nation.
The Tigers, currently ranked No. 8 nationally by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association compete Friday in the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. Also taking part in the race are No. 1 Villanova, No. 2 Florida State, No. 3 Washington and No. 5 Oregon. Aalso racing are UTEP, New Mexico, BYU, SMU, Iowa and Notre Dame, all ranked in the top 30.
A second squad of Princeton runners, along with the Tiger men and men's and women's teams from Brown, Colombia, Cornell, Dartmouth and Penn race Friday in Bethlehem, Pa., in the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Leigh.
Dartmouth and Cornell were the top Ivy finishers in the men's race last year, placing 6th and 7th in the team standings. The Big Red women also claimed the League's top team finish, coming in 5th.
On Saturday, Harvard's men and women and Princeton's men compete in the Wisconsin Inter-Regional while a squad of Dartmouth men and women will race in the Keene Invitational.
