PRINCETON, N.J. -- Yale and Harvard recorded impressive sweeps while Princeton and Cornell went the distance to record their home wins on the opening weekend of Ivy League play.

Yale, which has won at least a share of the last three Ivy League titles and won the title outright in 2011 and 2012, won its 15th consecutive Ivy League match and 27th in the last 29 with a 3-0 sweep of Brown on Saturday evening. Kendall Polan nearly had a triple-double in just three sets with eight kills, 10 digs and 23 assists.

Harvard swept Dartmouth for the first time since 2004 as freshman Corinne Bain made an impress Ivy debut. Bain had seven kills, 14 digs and 26 assists in the three-set win.

Princeton outlasted Penn on Friday night in a five-set thriller behind Kendall Peterkin's 21 kills. Tiger freshman Lauren Miller dished out 60 assists in the match, the most by an Ivy Leaguer thus far this season. Princeton hit .313 for the match, while Penn hit .340. Kristen Etterbeek had 15 kills and 19 digs for the Quakers.

Cornell had an impressive win over their own on Saturday afternoon, defeating Columbia in five sets. After the Lions won the first set 25-12, Cornell regrouped to win the second. Columbia won the third set and had rallied to take a 24-22 lead in the fourth. But the Big Red rallied to tie the score at 24-all later won it on Macey Wilson's kill, 28-26. From there, Cornell took over the fifth with a 6-0 run that featured four kills by freshman Sarah Kramer on the way to a 15-8 win in the decisive set.

This weekend, Ancient Eight squads begin their traditional Friday-Saturday slates. All eight matches from around the League will be streamed on The Ivy League® Digital Network and can be watched simulataneously with the network's quad-view screen.
