PRINCETON, N.J. -- Harvard swept Penn and Princeton for the first time in 16 years and remained within striking distance of Ivy League frontrunner Yale last weekend.

The Crimson, behind freshman Corinne Bain's consecutive triple-doubles, went on the road and defeated Penn in four sets and Princeton in three to remain two games behind Yale in the League standings.

Another freshman was a big spark in Yale's weekend sweep. Brittani Steinberg hit a whopping .509 in seven sets over the weekend, amassing 31 kills with just four errors in 53 attempts. That helped the Bulldogs to a three-set win at Cornell and a four-set victory at Columbia. Playing without the League's leading hitter Jesse Ebner, Yale (13-3, 7-0) ran its conference winning streak to 21 straight matches with the two wins. The Bulldogs own the third-longest active conference winning streak in the country behind Morehead State, winners of 30 straight Ohio Valley Conference matches, and LIU Brooklyn, which has won 25 straight Northeast Conference matches.

Yale's three out-of-conference losses this season have come at the hands of No. 2-ranked Penn State, No. 6 Stanford and No. 11 Missouri, which is one of two unbeatens left in the nation (23-0). The Bulldogs were ranked No. 46 in the first release of the NCAA RPI this week with all three of the losses coming against Top 10 RPI squads.

Continuing the youth-movement theme, Dartmouth freshman Emily Astarita helped the Big Green make history last Friday. Her 15 kills helped Dartmouth to their first-ever win at Princeton, a five-set triumph over the Tigers. The Big Green split their "southern" road swing, falling at Penn on Saturday.

This weekend, Ancient Eight squads have an abbreviated slate as teams will play single matches against their respective travel partners. All four matches from around the League will be streamed on The Ivy League® Digital Network.

Yale freshman outside hitter Brittani Steinberg (Glenview, Ill.) hit .509 in the Bulldogs' two wins last weekend. Steinberg had 11 kills with just two errors in a three-set sweep over Cornell on Friday night. She followed that up with a 20-kill performance - the first by a Bulldog this season - in a four-set win over Columbia.

It is the first time this season Steinberg has won Player of the Week and the second time this year she earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Steinberg's Weekly Stats

In each of the wins, Bain compiled 10 kills, 22 assists and 10 digs to record her second and third triple-doubles of the season - the only ones in program history. More impressively, she did them in three and four-set matches. She also had four aces in the win over Penn.
